On Tuesday the 17th of June, students from Prior Park School joined Loreto pupils for a LEGO Robotics masterclass. The younger pupils from Years 5 and 6 were supported by older students from Years 7, 8 and 9. With a practice schedule to mimic the UK competition environment,9 the young engineers were set to design a presentation themed on the topic ‘Submerged’.
As the morning progressed, the older students supported the younger pupils with their ideas, encouraging them to explore and challenge themselves. Year 9 pupils showed the textual coding they have been taught at Prior Park to programme the robots.
The teams then had the opportunity to present their ‘Submerged’ presentations to the others. It was a good opportunity for the younger pupils to see the next level expected of them for the UK competition in 2026.
The morning concluded with the launch of the 2025-26 season challenge, called ‘Unearthed’.
Mr Devincenzi-Clemens said ” The morning was huge success, even though it had taken a different format to last year. The children all gained from the morning developing the core values of teamwork and collaboration. I would like to thank Mr McCauliffe and Miss Lucidi for supporting this transitional event between Loreto and Prior Park. Let the competition begin in September, the game face will be on! “
