The children in Year 4 attended a Chess presentation on Wednesday 7th December where they were formally invited to join the middle school chess club on Wednesday lunchtimes. Mrs Napoli, along with Stuart Conquest, spoke to the children about the benefits of playing chess and each child was presented with a portable, magnetic chess set. This is the third year that Lombard Odier have sponsored the promotion of chess in local schools and the number of children playing chess in Gibraltar is increasing as a result. Tracy Bruce from Lombard Odier came along and spoke to the children about the transferable skills of strategy and forward thinking both during their academic life and in the future in the working environment. Tracy sent us a message later on that day:
“A brief note to thank you all for welcoming us to school this morning. It has genuinely been the highlight of my week, to see so many enthusiastic, smiling faces!”
