All the middle schools in Gibraltar took part in a very successful day at the Middle Schools’ Chess Tournament on Friday 18th March held at the Caleta Hotel.
Loreto Convent A team came 3rd in the main tournament. Well done to Louis Charvetto, James Scott, Pamela Vera Perez, Anushree Jain, James Wilson and Tomas Novotny.
Loreto Convent B team came 1st in the development section. Excellent performance and congratulations to Pablo Kussner, Garry Cherepakhov, Michael Bowry, Carlos Kussner and Pedro Craveiro Bagao.
Loreto Convent C team came 3rd in the development section. Well done to Adriana Garcia Martinez, Carlos and Marta Chacon Perez, Alejandro Pacheco, Charlotte Scott and Louis Bruce.
The children had great fun throughout the day, made new chess friends and were able to put into practice all they had learned during our Tuesday and Wednesday lunch time chess club sessions. The tournament organisers were impressed with the levels of play and the chess skills on show as well as the good sportsmanship and behaviour of all.
We are now looking forward to participating in the UK National Primary Schools’ under 11 championships being held on Saturday 9th April at St. Bernard’s School.
