Heart Awareness Day
October 16
Dear Parents,
On Monday 16th October, Loreto Convent will be raising awareness of Global Restart a Heart Day in conjunction with Gibraltar Cardiac Association and Heart Starterz. Pupils are encouraged to show their support by substituting their normal school polo or P.E top and wear a football shirt instead.
We hope to raise awareness of how important CPR is, and how an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) really can save a life. For Upper Primary there will be an assembly and sessions focusing on educating the pupils about basic CPR, children will also have the chance to ‘beat the keeper’ at lunchtime. Although we are not asking for donations to wear a football shirt, we will be asking for a £1 donation for pupils to ‘Beat the Keeper’!
Christian Eriksen’s collapse from a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s opening game of the Euro 2020 has brought this to the forefront and highlighted the importance of CPR, defibrillator use and of acting very quickly to save a life. It has also shown that if action is taken promptly enough, a person can fully recover, Christian Eriksen is still playing football in the Premier League.
Thank you for your support.
Kind regards,
Mr Devincenzi-Clemens
