Loreto Convent Upper Primary Choir performed and competed on Wednesday 15th Feb at the John Mackintosh Hall for the GibFYM Festival. They sang two contrasting songs: “A Million Dreams” and “From Now On” from the musical, The Greatest Showman, with their own arrangements and interpretations. Their amazing performances in both songs earned them First place in their category and very positive and beautiful words from the adjudicator Steven Roberts, obtaining a Distinction mark for both performances! Quoting from some of Mr Roberts feedback on his adjudication, “You gave a fabulous performance, you looked good, vocals were great and staging was good! Beautiful vocals from the 4 soloists and equally beautiful harmonies from the choir! The choir have been invited to perform and compete for the title of Best School Choir at the Gala Night held on Saturday 18th February at the John Mackintosh Hall…..We wish them all the very best of luck!

The Music Team also put together an ensemble group, consisting of a pianist, drummer, bass player, keyboards and 5 vocalists who also performed on Wednesday at the GibFYM but entered the non-competitive category. They performed to, “Something Just Like This” from Coldplay with a touch of their own arrangement and choreography. Their performance earned them a Commendation mark and very positive feedback from the adjudicator. Here are some of his comments: “You have given thought to how you wish to present yourselves. You work really well as an ensemble as there is a lovely energy to this group. Great harmonies from the singers and an overall great performance from the group!”
