All the classes at Loreto Convent School including Class 5L spent some time discussing the Holocaust Memorial Day. We also looked at inspirational people who had acted heroically in situations where others were being hurt. We focused on Sir Nicholas Winton who helped save over 600 Czech children during WWII.
We worked in groups discussing some famous quotes on such as “The only thing that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing” (Edmund Burke) and putting them into our own words. Our version of this quote says: “If people who are good at heart are lazy when they see bad things happening and don’t act to stop it then those doing the bad things get their way.”
