At Loreto we value the excellent education we provide, and are doing our best to find ways to continue to provide it even in the event of the school being forced to close temporarily. Our staff continues to work hard to develop a Remote Learning Environment which can be accessed from home, and which will enable parents to work with their children in order to minimize the interruption to their schooling. We are proud to announce that to start our Summer term on 20th April, we will be introducing live remote contact sessions using Microsoft Teams. These sessions are still being developed and are unchartered territory for staff, pupils and parents, however we are moving to establish more personalised contact with children as we all develop.”

Nursery 2
I hope that you have all had a nice Easter break. I know that this year we have all had to cancel our plans and stay home but I hope you have all had some great family time instead.
This week all the children would have been back in school. As we all still have to stay home to stay safe, I will instead be putting Nursery 2 ideas on our home learning page below. Every week I will send a story, art ideas, a recipe, music/rhymes, worksheets to download, P.E games and messy play ideas for you all.
Please remember that children learn through play at this stage and everything is designed to be fun. All of your children are at different stages of development and they will each tackle the suggested ideas in their own way. You do not have to do all or even any of the activities that I send. I hope that if you do you would be kind enough to send some photos to publicity@loreto.gi. We love to see what all your children are up to at home.
I am missing all of the children very much and I hope that you all keep safe and well.
Mrs Wallace

Pre School – Week 2
Dear Parents,
We hope that you have all had a good Easter. This week in class we are on the letter Ss. Sammy Snake in Letterland terms. In class we would have been making superhero’s and reading stories from the Supertato series. We have also added the Spanish song we would be singing and Macu’s cooking recipe for the week. We also use Top Marks for interactive work on the smart-board, we have found a link that is tablet friendly and you should be able to use the link on the ipads. It is sequencing shapes with the interactive train. It is self explanatory but again don’t hesitate to ask for more details.
Links and ideas are listed below as in previous weeks.
Please email us if you require anything else or guidelines on anything.
We also have included the recipe for SCONES that the afternoon children made with Macu a few weeks ago.
Don’t forget to send us your pictures we love seeing what you have made.
See you all soon,
Mrs Pitchford, Mrs Nunez, Macu and Tania

Reception Week 3
Dear Parents,
As we begin a new term we remain hopeful that we can return to school in the not too distant future and continue to learn and grow.
In the meantime we hope you are getting the most out of our online learning platform.
This week we begin our topic on Spring. We will look at new life in the story of The hungry Caterpillar read by Ms Picardo. Mrs Yome explains the life cycle of the butterfly. The children can then cut and stick the pictures to show the different stages. We have some handwriting practice and some work on the op word family.
In numeracy we are concentrating on numbers to 20. The children will be sequencing numbers to 20. This will also encourage the revision of number formation.
We are very much looking forward to seeing our pupils, even if it is only online. We hope these sessions are enjoyable for them.
Kind Regards,
Ms Picardo and Mrs Yome

First and Middle School
On 23rd March we launched the Loreto Learning Resource Centre.
You will be available access the weekly resources to help support in home schooling during term time, before the week commencing every Friday at 5pm.
Our teachers have made a herculean effort to produce this bespoke programme for Loreto pupils to continue their education in these difficult times.
Our platform is secure and will only be accessible using your child’s username and password. The resources will be available 24/7, published week by week. The children of years six & seven have been using office 365 this year and this should enable them to help younger siblings to access work set by their teachers.
In theses exceptional circumstances we are changing our email contact policy to ensure efficient communication. Please contact your child’s year team directly, the email addresses for each year group can be found on the SharePoint Learning Resource Centre home page or on websites Help & Support page above. We ask that all emails are sent from your child’s Loreto email (@loreto.gi) which is used as the username for logging in to the resource centre. Staff will reply directly back to these emails only.

Hi Loreto family! Hope you are all safe and well at home during these very strange times. We are all missing the normality of school life and I know you are missing seeing your friends and playing sport. However, it is so important to stay healthy and as active as possible. Remember what we always tell you, moving your body always makes you feel better and if you add music to your movement it will help even more! We’ve set up some P.E activities for you to try out and we’ll be setting you different challenges through the next few weeks for you to give them a go too. Take a look at the link below and it will explain it all to you.We want to see pictures of you and your family taking on these activities and challenges and we’ll send you some of us too!We miss you and hope we can see you all very soon.Stay safe!Miss Grech & Miss McNally |

Dear Parents and Children,
As you see in this video, The Chronicles of Narnia were written for children and adults alike so this week I would like to challenge and encourage the children and yourselves to choose one of the books from the series, read them and discuss it at home. Ask your child to write about their own fantasy world and send it in to nelkerbout-bonich@loreto.gi
Thankyou
Natalie
In this video I would like to tell our pupils a little bit about the author’s life, his inspiration by relating his personal experience to some of the books that he wrote. I hope that it will motivate your child further and they look beyond what they read.
Thank you

Thank you very much – we really do appreciate what the school is doing to help parents and children at this time.
I’ve spoken to other parents and we appreciate all you and the other teachers are doing and have plenty to do with the kids. Especially if we add other websites and links that you have provided. It’s definitely made me appreciate a teacher’s role a lot more!
I do appreciate the considerable efforts the teachers have gone to to get the materials ready online
Thank you so much for this
I hope you are keeping safe and well in these turbulent times we are currently in. Thank you for this greatly appreciate from a single working Mum – this makes everything way more manageable. We are doing some nice vocational learning/cooking etc – I in tend to enjoy as much as I can some quality time with Izzy… while trying to stay sane!
Take care of yourselves and your families,
I would like to this opportunity and express our gratitude to the school for acting in the best interest of our children and, aswell, for all of Gibraltar. The work that teachers have already provided for our children to do at home is greatly appreciated. I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone in Loreto, teachers, maintenance staff and admin support. In these troublesome times, schools are proving to be an “Essential Service” in our community too! You are all heroes in this fight against covid-19.
God bless you all, and stay safe.
