The year 7 pupils at Loreto Convent School were proud to present their leavers play, Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies, a tale of tights, fights and footlights by Craig Hawes. Narrated by Alec Harbinson as the character Billy Wigglestick, the play flowed from scene to scene. With the lead role of Robin Hood played by Oliver Whitmore, a story being told of how is men of actors, including Jack Tunbridge playing ‘Friar Tuck’, Robin and actress were mistakenly hired by Maid Marion, played superbly by Esther Tricker, to save her and the villagers from the Sheriff of Nottingham. When the evil Sheriff of Nottingham, played by Carlos Kussner and his gormless guards threaten the villagers of Sherwood, feisty Maid Marion hires a band of freedom fighters for protection. But when Robin and his Merry Men arrive, she soon discovers they’re not exactly what she’d ordered! With no time to lose, she persuades these hapless heroes to take centre stage for the performance of their lives – if only they could stick to the script!
The musical followed the most outrageous outlaws in history on their side-splitting, action-packed adventure to defeat the dastardly Sheriff, storm Nottingham Castle, rescue Maid Marion and overthrow King John, played by James Wilson – all without laddering their tights! This hysterical show is a riotous romp through the medieval mayhem of Merry England, splattered with shocks and surprises, crazy characters and comic capers. With a score full of catchy, show-stopping songs and a wonderfully witty script as sharp as an arrow, this musical comedy is on target to send you all a-quiver! The Musical Comedy was one full of comedy and drama and throughout. Punchy, one liners that had the audience laughing in stitches throughout the play. With Max Povedano playing ‘Nursie Gerty Gusset, a role in drag, he worked the audience to continue the laughter and humour.
With great reviews from our parents, some of our little stars could end up on the BIG stage in years to come.
