On Tuesday 17th May Loreto Convent School participated in World Athletics Day, where we were represented by athletes from Years 4-7 competing in a total of 32 races. With excellent speed, endurance and determination shown by all the athletes, Loreto won a total of 24 medals; 4 Gold, 10 Silver and 10 Bronze. A fantastic set of results for the smallest school competing in the event. There were also a number of outstanding individual performances that led to three school records being broken and one school record that was equalled. These new records were:

Julio Dominguez Perez – Year 6 Boys 400m 1:10:77 (old record 1:13:64)
Juan Dominguez Perez – Year 6 Boys 800m 2:41:05 (old record 2:46:80)
Gimena Bocanegra Hallin – Year 7 Girls 100m 14.10s (record equalled)
