World Book Day saw events and activities for children across the school and began with Nursery classes visiting the library. Children listened to the story ‘Supertato’ and then enjoyed making their own potato superhero. This year, Andrea Prior a children’s illustrator and poet, visited us. Reception and Years 1-4 had interactive sessions involving readings, character drawings and character development. Andrea’s rhymes are full of word patterns, wordplay and tongue twisters, perfect for developing children’s reading skills.
The whole school took part in the World Book Day Big Book Quiz. Year’s 6 and 7 had quizzes specific to their Class Readers and Year 5’s heard a talk about Roald’s Dahl life and how he became a writer. Prizes for the Winners of the Drawing and Writing Competitions were announced. All the wonderful drawings and the best poetry will be on display in the library.
Thank you to the library helpers, teachers and to parents for your support.
