Loreto Convent’s Christmas Carol Concert Brings Festive Cheer and Hope

Young musicians and the Royal Gibraltar Regiment Band raise £2,700 for Save the Children through an evening of music and generosity on the 4th December 2025. The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity sparkled with Christmas spirit last night as Loreto Convent School and the Royal Gibraltar Regiment Band hosted its annual Christmas Carol Concert in aid of Save the Children. By kind permission of the Dean, Ian Tarrant, families, friends, and music lovers gathered to celebrate the season in a heartwarming evening filled with joy, harmony, and goodwill.

The concert was a true showcase of talent, featuring not only the angelic voices of Loreto’s choirs but also the remarkable skill of its young instrumentalists, whose performances brought festive magic to every corner of the cathedral. From the rousing opening piece, A Christmas Festival by Anderson, played by the Royal Gibraltar Regiment Band, the audience was swept into a world of seasonal melodies.

Loreto’s Upper Primary Ensemble delighted with a lively Troika, while the Year 2 Ensemble charmed with Christmas Star. Later, the Year 5 Drumming Ensemble filled the cathedral with rhythmic excitement during Carol of the Bells, and the Ukulele Ensemble offered a beautifully arranged God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and a serene Silent Night. These performances were met with warm applause, a testament to the children’s dedication and festive spirit.

The choirs added their own sparkle to the evening. The Year 2 Christmas Choir enchanted the audience with It’s Christmas Time and a joyful traditional medley, while the Upper Primary Choir delivered heartfelt renditions of Born on Christmas Day, O Come All Ye Faithful, and a lively Feliz Navidad that had everyone smiling and singing along. Adding grandeur and festive cheer, the Royal Gibraltar Regiment Band thrilled listeners with seasonal favourites including the exhilarating Sleigh Ride and a vibrant arrangement from Disney’s Frozen, creating a perfect blend of tradition and modern magic.

A total of £1,500 was raised, and all proceeds will go to Save the Children — a concert by children to raise money for less fortunate children, spreading hope and joy far beyond Gibraltar. The evening was not only a celebration of music and community but a shining reminder of the true spirit of Christmas: giving, sharing, and coming together.
